Terms & Conditions

Clear expectations and total transparency for a seamless travel planning experience.

Effective October, 1 2026  ·  Camryn LaSala  ·  Camryn.lasala@fora.travel

These Terms & Conditions ("Agreement") govern the relationship between Camryn LaSala, an independent travel advisor doing business as High Standard Travels ("Travel Advisor," "we," or "us"), and you, the purchaser of travel services or lead traveler ("Client" or "you"). By paying a planning fee, confirming these terms in writing, or booking travel with us, you agree to this Agreement on behalf of yourself and every member of your traveling party.

You confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old and authorized to enter this Agreement and make bookings for your traveling party

  • The information you provide for yourself and others is true and accurate, and you will keep it updated throughout our work together

  • You will follow this Agreement and the terms of any travel supplier or partner that apply to your bookings

Independent Travel Advisor

High Standard Travels is an independent travel business affiliated with Fora Travel, Inc. ("Fora"), which serves as our host agency and technology provider. Fora is not a travel supplier, and Travel Advisor is not Fora's agent, representative, or employee. Your agreement is with High Standard Travels, and Fora is not a party to it.

You agree not to bring claims against Fora related to our planning services, bookings, cancellations, or disputes, and you waive any such claims. Your rights against travel suppliers are not affected by this section.

Services, Planning Fees & Scope of Work

We provide travel planning services, which may include researching and booking accommodations, transportation, activities, and tours based on your preferences and budget, plus any other services we agree to in writing.

Planning fees are agreed with you in writing, are due before work begins, and are 100% non-refundable and non-negotiable. Your planning fee covers the services, deliverables, and revision rounds included in your selected package or written proposal (together, the "Scope of Work").

Scope of Work and Flexibility. Your Scope of Work is based on the details you share at the start: travel dates and trip length, number of travelers, number of destinations or properties, budget range, and must-have features. If you haven't chosen a destination yet, that's okay. Destination discovery is part of the process, as long as you let us know at the start.

We expect some details to shift during planning, and minor changes are included in your planning fee. A trip is considered outside its original scope when it changes significantly, including:

  • More than 3 days added to the original trip length

  • Any travelers added after your first proposal or lookbook is delivered who require additional rooms, bookings, or reservations

  • Any destinations added beyond the number in your quote

  • New must-have requirements added after property options have been presented

  • Changes requested within 60 days of travel

Changes outside the original scope may be billed at our current hourly rate or requoted with an updated planning fee. We'll always let you know in writing before any additional fees apply.

Revision rounds are counted per package. One round means one set of consolidated feedback on a proposal or lookbook, followed by one updated version from us. Unused revisions do not carry over or convert to credit.

Changes in Scope & Additional Fees

Work beyond the Scope of Work is billed at our current hourly rate, in addition to your original planning fee. We will let you know in writing before additional hourly work begins.

Additional hourly fees may apply when:

  • You request more revision rounds than your package includes

  • Your trip grows beyond the flexibility described in Scope of Work and Flexibility

  • You change the destination, budget, or type of accommodation after research has begun

  • You request services not listed in your package

  • You request changes after bookings are confirmed

If changes are significant, we may instead provide a new written proposal with an updated planning fee. Work paused while we wait for your approval of additional fees does not count against any planning timeline.

Exclusive Planning Agreement

By hiring High Standard Travels, you agree not to independently solicit contracts, quotes, or proposals for accommodations or other arrangements for the same destination and dates we are planning, whether directly or through other travel advisors, agencies, or booking services, unless you told us in writing before work began. This covers everything within your Scope of Work, including accommodations, transportation, and activities.

If you seek or accept duplicate proposals or bookings during our engagement, we may end our planning services. Planning fees already paid are non-refundable, and the independent booking terms in Lookbook Bookings and À La Carte & Custom Services below apply.

Lookbook Bookings

Our lookbook planning fee is kept low because the accommodation booking made through us earns commission from the supplier. For that reason, lookbook packages are only available with an accommodation booking made through High Standard Travels.

If you choose to book your accommodation independently or through another channel, the lookbook rate no longer applies, and a flat fee of $300 (less the lookbook fee already paid) will be invoiced to cover the research completed. This fee is due within 7 days of invoice.

If the property you choose can only be booked through a channel that doesn't pay us commission, we'll let you know before booking, and the same fee applies.

Full-service planning fees are priced to cover our time regardless of commission, so this section doesn't apply to them.

À La Carte & Custom Services

À la carte services, such as group and multi-generational travel, corporate or social retreats, wedding and group room blocks, all-inclusive vacations, cruises, yacht charters, private jets, and flight assistance, are priced through a written proposal based on the scope of each request. Your proposal will state the fee and what it includes. The scope, revision, and hourly billing terms in this Agreement apply to these services.

If your proposal's fee is reduced because bookings will be made through High Standard Travels and earn commission, and you then book those arrangements independently or through another channel, you will be invoiced for the research completed at our current hourly rate, or at the independent booking fee stated in your proposal, less any fee already paid.

Complimentary bookings. Booking-only services with no planning fee are complimentary because the booking earns commission. If you ask us to research, compare, or hold options and then book elsewhere, the research completed may be billed at our current hourly rate.

Vacation Rentals & Privately Owned Homes

We work with individually owned or managed properties on a case-by-case basis. These properties often list on several platforms, and terms such as security deposits, cleaning fees, house rules, and cancellation policies can differ by platform.

Before you approve a booking, we will share the specific terms of the channel we book through. Security or damage deposits are set by the property owner or booking platform, not by High Standard Travels, and are returned according to the owner's or platform's policy. We will advocate on your behalf with the owner or platform, but we cannot guarantee that a deposit will be waived or reduced.

Client Responsibilities & Communication

Great trips come from clear information. You agree to:

  • Share your full requirements, budget, and must-haves at the start of planning

  • Tell us promptly in writing if any details change

  • Give timely feedback so we can hold availability and keep planning on track

  • Review every proposal, confirmation, itinerary, and travel document as soon as you receive it, and tell us right away about any errors

  • Make sure the names on all bookings match each traveler's government-issued ID

Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific. We reply to messages within 1–2 business days. If we do not hear from you for 30 days during active planning, we may close your project. Reopening a closed project may require a new planning fee.

Recommended properties and rates are not held for you unless they are booked. We are not responsible for availability or price changes caused by delays in your decision.

Our Role With Suppliers

We act as a sales agent for the airlines, hotels, rental owners, booking platforms, cruise lines, tour operators, car rental companies, and other providers named in your itinerary or confirmations ("Suppliers"). Our role is to make reservations at your request and act as a liaison between you and your Suppliers. Travel documents may be issued by third-party booking channels we select.

Suppliers are independent businesses responsible for delivering the services you purchase. You consent to the Suppliers we disclose to you and are responsible for reviewing any Supplier you or your travelers choose. Once you approve a selection, we are not responsible if you are unhappy with that final choice.

We make no guarantee of a Supplier's rates, availability, quality, or special requests. We are not responsible for a Supplier's acts or omissions, schedule changes, service failures, refund decisions, financial default, or failure to honor future travel credits, and we do not cover related costs. Each Supplier's own policies govern your rights to refunds, rebooking, and credits. We are not liable for recommending a travel credit instead of a refund.

Duty of care. If an issue comes up with a booking made through us, we will help you contact the Supplier and make the initial contact on your behalf. After that, communication may continue directly between you and the Supplier as needed. We can only assist with services booked through High Standard Travels, and we are not responsible for the final outcome.

Rates, Payments & Price Changes

Rates. Prices are in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise and may change without notice. Many Suppliers use dynamic pricing based on demand and availability, so prices are not guaranteed until a booking is confirmed and any required deposit is received. Currency fluctuations may affect your final cost.

Confirmed bookings. All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation by Travel Advisor.

Price increases. Suppliers or governments may add surcharges, fuel charges, taxes, or fees after you book, especially for airline and cruise bookings. You agree to these increases and authorize your card on file to be charged for them. Tours, cruises, and packages may also change price due to currency or operating costs, and group pricing may include a surcharge if the group falls below the Supplier's minimum size.

Price drops. If a Supplier lowers its price after you book, we will try to help you rebook if the Supplier allows it. A fee may apply, and we cannot guarantee a refund or successful rebooking.

Payment. Travel bookings are usually paid directly to the Supplier using the card you provide through our secure intake form, or through Fora when we direct you to. Payment schedules, deposits, and balances are set by each Supplier. Your planning fee is billed separately as a professional service invoice.

Card on file. You may keep a credit card on file with us, which we may charge for travel services and related amounts you expressly authorize. You confirm you are an authorized user of any card you provide.

Personal information. You authorize us to use the personal information you provide for yourself and your travelers to make bookings and reservations you request.

Cancellations, Changes & Refunds

Every booking follows the Supplier's own deposit, cancellation, change, and refund policies, which we will share before you confirm. You agree to these policies and are bound by them, even where a Supplier's full terms are not separately provided to you.

  • Notice. Send cancellation or change requests to us by email at least 48 hours before you need them made. We are not liable for Supplier penalties caused by late requests.

  • Fees. Supplier penalties, plus any fees or costs we incur from your changes or cancellations, are passed on to you. We may also charge a processing fee for refunds, cancellations, and changes, and additional planning time is billed at our current hourly rate.

  • Hotels. Hotel reservations are often guaranteed with payment. To cancel or change, you must follow each hotel's deadline and policy.

  • Discounted and promotional fares. These often carry restrictions, such as being non-refundable or having change fees. Changing a flight, time, or routing may cause an airline to charge a full fare, so please contact us or the airline before making changes.

  • Unused services. Flight changes or cancellations must be made before the original departure. Unused tickets and services have no value after departure.

  • Changes during your trip. If your plans change while traveling, contact us or your airline about available options and fees.

  • Independent arrangements. We are not responsible for costs or fees from travel arrangements you make on your own.

Chargebacks & Disputes

YOU AGREE NOT TO FILE A DISPUTE WITH YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY TO AVOID THESE TERMS OR ANY SUPPLIER'S TERMS, INCLUDING CANCELLATIONS OR CHANGES FOR REASONS BEYOND OUR CONTROL, UNLESS THE SERVICE WAS NEVER PROVIDED OR WAS GROSSLY MISREPRESENTED.

If something isn't as expected, notify us right away and give us a reasonable chance to help resolve it with the Supplier. If we are the merchant on your card transaction, our service is planning, facilitating the sale, and paying the Supplier, so if a Supplier fails to provide a service or stops operating, your recourse is against the Supplier, not us. You agree to pay all costs we incur in responding to an unauthorized dispute or refund request, including legal fees and any invoiced fees owed under this Agreement.

Supplier Bankruptcies

If an airline, hotel, cruise line, or other Supplier declares bankruptcy or stops operating, it is not required to honor reservations made before the bankruptcy or to refund payments or tickets issued before it. A bankrupt airline may continue service, reduce it, or stop flying entirely. Other airlines may accept affected passengers only in limited cases, or not at all.

Travel advisors are not permitted to refund tickets on airlines that have declared bankruptcy, and payments for airline tickets belong to the airline once issued. We cannot issue refunds on any Supplier's behalf. Your recourse is with the Supplier or your travel insurance, so we recommend a policy that covers Supplier financial default.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance for every trip. It can protect you against cancellations, interruptions, delays, medical emergencies, lost baggage, and Supplier issues. Insurance is not included unless you purchase it, and it often must be bought soon after your first trip deposit to qualify for certain coverage.

Without insurance, if you cancel or your trip is interrupted for any reason, Supplier and Travel Advisor cancellation penalties apply, and you may lose up to the full cost of your trip. Your policy's terms decide what is covered, including pandemics, pre-existing conditions, and exclusions, so review it directly with the insurer. Supplier-provided waivers may not include insolvency coverage. Nothing we say about insurance is a binding promise of coverage, and we are not responsible if you decline insurance or an insurer denies a claim.

Travel Documents & Entry Requirements

Passports and visas. Every traveler, including children and infants, needs a valid passport for international travel. Many destinations, including Mexico, Costa Rica, St. Lucia, and much of Europe, require passports valid for at least six months after your travel dates, and some require visas or blank passport pages. You are responsible for obtaining these through the proper government offices.

Entry requirements. You are responsible for meeting every passport, visa, vaccination, health, and entry requirement for your destinations and connecting points. Some countries deny entry to people with criminal convictions, including Canada. You are also responsible for staying aware of health, safety, security, and political conditions at your destinations. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please check entry, visa, and health requirements with the embassy or consulate of each country you are visiting or connecting through.

Traveling with minors. Minors may need their own travel documents. Minors traveling with one parent, or without both parents, may need a notarized consent letter and may be denied travel without one. See help.cbp.gov for details. Written consent from a parent or legal guardian must be given to the supervising adult or group leader.

Denied entry. We are not responsible if any traveler is denied boarding or entry. Failing to meet requirements can result in fines, quarantine, or deportation at your expense. BEING DENIED ENTRY FOR ANY REASON MAY RESULT IN A COMPLETE FINANCIAL LOSS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR TRIP AND DOES NOT ENTITLE YOU TO ANY REFUND.

Airport check-in. Plan to arrive at least 1.5–2 hours before domestic flights and 2.5–3 hours before international flights, with extra time during busy periods. Arriving late can result in denied boarding.

Travel Risks & Advisories

We have no special knowledge of dangers during travel or at any destination. For safety information, please review the U.S. State Department's travel advisories and the CDC's destination pages before you travel. Travel risks and advisories change, and it is your responsibility to stay informed.

Changes in travel advisories do not override Supplier cancellation and refund policies. Unless your travel insurance covers it, a change in advisories or personal concerns, including anxiety or discomfort about a destination, does not entitle you to a refund, credit, or other compensation. We do not represent that travel to any destination is advisable or without risk. YOUR PARTICIPATION IN ANY TRAVEL CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THAT RISK.

Limitation of Liability & Force Majeure

WE ACT ONLY AS AN AUTHORIZED SELLER FOR DISCLOSED SUPPLIERS AND HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THEIR OPERATIONS. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR OTHER ISSUES ARISING FROM SUPPLIERS' SERVICES, INCLUDING THEIR ACTS, ERRORS, OMISSIONS, NEGLIGENCE, SERVICE FAILURES, CANCELLATIONS, REFUND POLICIES, PRICE CHANGES, BANKRUPTCY, OR CLOSURE. WE DISCLAIM ALL LIABILITY FOR DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RELATED TO SUPPLIERS' GOODS OR SERVICES, AND YOU RELEASE US FROM ANY SUCH CLAIMS.

We are not liable for any failure or delay in our services, or for any injury, loss, damage, delay, or expense, caused by events beyond our control, including acts of God, weather, natural disasters, accidents, terrorism, war, civil unrest, unsafe conditions, pandemics or other health hazards, illness, strikes, equipment failures, or government action.

ANY RECOVERY FROM HIGH STANDARD TRAVELS IS LIMITED TO THE PLANNING FEES AND COMMISSION WE ACTUALLY RECEIVED FOR YOUR TRIP. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGES OTHER THAN COMPENSATORY DAMAGES, AND YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES.

General

Changes to these terms. We may update this Agreement at any time, at our sole discretion. Updated versions take effect immediately when posted on our website or provided to you. Continuing to use our services after an update means you accept it.

Governing law and venue. California law governs this Agreement. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts in Carpinteria, California, for all disputes arising from or related to this Agreement or bookings with us.

Claims. Any claim against us must be brought within 12 months after your trip ends. YOU MAY ONLY BRING CLAIMS INDIVIDUALLY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS ACTION OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

Third parties. This Agreement is only for the benefit of High Standard Travels and you, and gives no rights to anyone else.

Severability. If any part of this Agreement is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect and will be read to best achieve its original intent.

Headings. Headings are for convenience only, and "including" means "including without limitation."

Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with the description of your selected package and any written proposal, is the entire agreement between us.
